Flood Watch issued May 20 at 7:52PM CDT until May 21 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Hastings NE ...Heavy Rain Likely In Parts of Central and South Central Nebraska Overnight Into Tuesday Morning... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and south central Nebraska, including the following counties, in central Nebraska, Greeley, Howard, Merrick, Nance, Sherman and Valley. In east central Nebraska, Polk and York. In south central Nebraska, Adams, Buffalo, Clay, Dawson, Fillmore, Franklin, Furnas, Gosper, Hall, Hamilton, Harlan, Kearney and Phelps. * WHEN...Through 1 PM Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will affect much of central and south central Nebraska overnight, with one final round of storms expected to track across the area from west- to-east mainly between 9 AM and 1 PM Tuesday. While total rainfall amounts will surely vary considerably across the area, confidence is increasing in amounts between 1 and 3 inches most places, with perhaps as much as 3 to 5 inches possible in a narrow swath or two if storms continue training over the same areas. Please note the exact location of any such narrow swaths are still somewhat uncertain.
