Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued May 16 at 11:01AM CDT until May 16 at 5:00PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 248 IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 11 COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS BASTROP BLANCO BURNET CALDWELL FAYETTE GILLESPIE HAYS LEE LLANO TRAVIS WILLIAMSON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF AUSTIN, BASTROP, BLANCO, BURNET, FREDERICKSBURG, GEORGETOWN, GIDDINGS, LA GRANGE, LLANO, LOCKHART, AND SAN MARCOS.

Special Weather Statement issued May 16 at 4:03PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX At 403 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Thorndale to near Elgin to near Mustang Ridge. Movement was southeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Taylor, Elgin, Bastrop, Giddings, La Grange, Smithville, Granger, Flatonia, Lexington, Tanglewood Forest, Austin Bergstrom Int Airport, Windemere, Shelby, Hutto, Manor, Thorndale, and Mustang Ridge. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 PM CDT for south central Texas.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued May 16 at 4:52PM CDT until May 16 at 5:30PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX At 451 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of Giddings, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Giddings, La Grange, Fayetteville, Round Top, Carmine, Rutersville, Warrenton, Ledbetter, Waldeck, Rabbs Prairie, Warda, Walhalla, Willow Springs, Winedale, Rek Hill, and Nechanitz. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Flood Advisory issued May 16 at 4:51PM CDT until May 16 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following counties, Bastrop, Lee and Williamson. * WHEN...Until 800 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 451 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Elgin, Bastrop, Giddings, Lexington, Dime Box, Fedor, Paige, Circle D-KC Estates, Camp Swift, Tanglewood, Wyldwood, Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway, Webberville, Manheim, Blue, Hills, Knobb Springs, McDade, Leo and Lincoln. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
